Michael Wakefield

Michael leads Specialty Products at CAC Group, overseeing practices in Financial Lines, Representations & Warranties, Tax, Contingent Risk, Surety, Special Situations, Environmental, and Professional & Cyber.

He founded and led CAC’s Transactional Liability (TL) practice’s growth into a top-5 U.S. TL broker. With expertise in brokering TL policies, coverage litigation and advocacy (as outside counsel and broker claims leader), Michael has shaped outcomes under insurance policies spanning TL, Financial Lines, Cyber, and other lines.

Before becoming one of the first CAC Specialty employees, he launched McGriff’s Transactional Liability practice. This followed a clerkship for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, after which he practiced law at King & Spalding LLP in Atlanta.

Michael earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law (high honors; Order of the Coif) and his B.A. from The University of Mississippi (summa cum laude; Phi Beta Kappa), where he also lettered in baseball.
