Bill Chappell

Bill serves as an Executive Vice President supporting all facets of the Natural Resources platform at CAC Specialty. He also leads Natural Resources initiatives around Technology and Innovation.

Bill brings Property and Casualty experience, technical specialization in fossil power generation, renewable energy, energy infrastructure, oil and gas gathering, processing, pipelines, refining and petrochemicals.

Prior to working with CAC Specialty, Bill was Senior Vice President of Energy and co-Leader of Property at McGriff Insurance Services where he spent 19 years. Over the course of his career, Bill principally led large and complex operational and construction placements representing many utility companies listed on the DOW Jones Industrial Index and several of the largest independent electric generation companies in the US. In addition, he has deep relationships throughout the industry with direct and indirect providers often allowing for solutions that are otherwise unattainable in traditional placements.

After beginning his insurance career as a Field Engineer with FM Global, Bill served in technical underwriting and engineering roles with Starr Technical Risks and later as National Underwriting Officer for ACE Global Energy.

Bill graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University, where he earned his bachelor’s in electrical engineering technology.
