Shai is a Senior Vice President on the Contingent Risk Insurance Practice, where he helps clients procure insurance solutions for a wide array of litigation-related risks.

Prior to joining CAC Specialty, Shai spent several years as an appellate litigator at large law firms in the northeast, including Sullivan & Cromwell, Mayer Brown, and, most recently, Wiggin and Dana. Shai has extensive experience with every aspect of complex appellate litigation, having authored numerous appellate briefs in state and federal courts across the country for a variety of Fortune 500 clients in a wide range of industries, including insurance, finance, and manufacturing, among others. Shai also has substantial experience in every aspect of trial-level litigation: he has managed large document productions, strategized regarding juror voir dire, and authored numerous court filings of every type, ranging from class certification motions, discovery motions, dispositive motions, jury instructions, and post-trial motions. In addition, Shai has provided legal support for more than a dozen trials.

This diverse background as a litigator on some of the toughest and most cutting-edge legal issues of the day helps Shai to think creatively about potential insurance solutions for clients facing litigation risks of all kinds.

Shai clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was Senior Editor of the Yale Law & Policy Review, after receiving his B.A. from Columbia University and an M.A. in Talmud and Jewish Law from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.

When he is not working to help clients achieve their needs, Shai spends his time with his wife and three young daughters, and enjoys grilling, reading, and hiking.
